What is a Swiss Pro Ball and why would you want one?
Recently a new fitness product has been generating a lot of interest due to the excellent results it has been providing to users. The Swiss Pro Ball, as the product is known, is good for helping people to improve their core strength and regain lost flexibility.
Is the Swiss Pro Ball easy to learn and use?
We would recommend having professional supervision while learning to use the Swiss Pro Ball because although it is a simple device, it does need to be used properly to get real benefit from it, and you should also ensure that you’re using it safely.
Once you know how to exercise with the Swiss Pro Ball, it’s up to you. Most people will be able to exercise with it unsupervised, but if you have a particular impairment that might make this unwise or difficult, it’s probably still best to at least have some company present while you’re working out.
Why is it called a “Pro” Ball?
Actually there are two products in this class. One is known just as a Swiss Ball and the other is the Swiss Pro Ball. What’s the difference? The latter is much stronger and more reliable. This provides you with a greater degree of safety when you’re using the product. Other than this, there’s not really very much difference between the two products.
Who is this product suitable for?
The Swiss Pro Ball is not necessarily ideal for everyone. It’s a product you should probably discuss with a medical professional, physiotherapist, or exercise expert before you make the decision to include the Swiss Pro Ball in your exercise plan.
Depending on which exercises you intend to perform, the Swiss Pro Ball will often be safe for use. You may have seen photos of young models and body builders draped over these balls, but that’s actually not the most common or even recommended way to use a Swiss Pro Ball.
If you have balance problems, you’ll actually want to avoid sitting astride the ball or draping yourself over the top of it. There are numerous floor exercises that physiotherapists and personal trainers are likely to recommend, which will usually prove beneficial, especially for those who have chronic lower back pain.
Using the Swiss Pro Ball correctly can help strengthen those lower back muscles, which in turn should eventually alleviate much of the pain. However, it is important to note that correct use is essential to achieving the goal. There are many potential exercises that could be performed, but whether you’re able to perform them depends on your current level of health and fitness.
One exercise, for example, involves lifting the ball off the ground while seated on the ground with your legs stretched out in front of you, and passing the from one side of the body to the other. This is fine if you have sufficient upper body strength to lift the ball, and the ability to comfortably sit in such a posture, and the ability to return to a standing position from that posture.
Another exercise involves lying flat on your back and using your feet to gently roll the ball towards you and away from you. This doesn’t require any lifting, but it does require you to be able to lift your feet high enough off the ground to reach the top of the ball, and you also need sufficient strength in your legs and feet to manipulate the ball from that position.
If you’re not able to do all these things, don’t worry. There is sure to be another exercise that does work. The best way to find out is to talk to an expert and follow their recommendation. If they suggest that a Swiss Pro Ball may help you, then the best place to buy one is from the Aged Care Store, where you can be sure of getting good value, excellent service, and a secure purchasing environment.
